DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, USA – Now that Dems, Mets and Yanks have their core rosters set, the only questions that remain in NY, a blue state in every sense of the word, is whether all of the above can hold off the The Reds (not necessarily the ones from Cincinnati although those from the rest of Ohio cannot be discounted). We’re talking McCain & Co., the Phillies and BoSox – all resplendent in their favorite color – RED. Each of the aforementioned lineups has its flaws, that is absolute gospel (op cit Jeremiah Wright). Yet, each has the ability to walk away with it all; to the point that TONS of us will be disappointed if one or all (there is the odd fan of both Mets/Yanks out there) should NOT walk away with it all. Let’s face it, as we proved with our Super Tuesday Special Report, we live in a polarized country. We like our sports. We like our politics. Some of us know stuff about both while some are only proficient in one, giving a rat’s behind about the other. Hey, we can punch even our best buds and moms right in the nose over either at any given time. Everybody reading this wants their team to be the winner come November; the World Series now ends in November, as absurd as that is. So, what stands in the way of each squad? Tough question, eh? Not for us – that’s why we get the big bucks! While all the pundits and cable stations spin like high school girls shopping for a prom dress trying to come up with calculations, postulates and predictions, we have the answer/common dominator that will determine who wins and who doesn’t. You ready? Sit down. Exhale. Here’s what will determine the outcome of all said races (Drum Roll): THE CLOSER! That’s right, The Closer. Obviously, it ain’t about the starters. Let’s break it down, briefly, for you: DEMS: Just consider the name of their ticket: JOBAMA. Joe comes first. He was inkded not only because of his experience and his apparent bond with John Q. Trucker but also to close the deal for Baby Barack. METS: With or without William Wagner, the issue, as Michael Alan Pelfrey proved before our very eyes at Shea last night (we wore a very summery orange linen jacket/white cotton pants ensemble) is NOT the starting rotation. Those guys, whomever is left standing, have been phenomenal and can likely withstand another 5 weeks. The huge question is, however, is if there is ANYBODY that can close when the campaign is on the line. UGH. YANKS: Dare we say it? Need we say it? It’s late August and the Bombers are 5 games behind the Sox in the Wild Card race. They are getting healthy. They just swept the Pigeons of Baltimore. They HAVE A CLOSER. Come November, one way or another, all of New York will be feeling BLUE after seeing RED for months... That’s all for today, please look for our newest video (coming as soon as we can iron out some technical kinks) and chime in below after changing your home page to MTM…. Angry Ward tomorrow. |

The Dems had a pretty good pinch hitter in Teddy Kennedy coming off the bench a la Kirk Gibson and parking one in the bleachers!
And Michelle Obama, once described as "Obama's baby mama" by that cess-pit of journalism, Fox News, came in and closed admirably.

A-B-C. A-Always, B-Be, C-Closing. Always be closing, always be closing. I'm a little insulted at being called odd.... I think strength of schedule and home games vs. away games is what matters. P.S.--Luis Castillo was awesome...he avoided getting in the way of the rest of the team scoring lots of runs...Out in first so they could hit 3 run homer.Hit the ball just soft enough to just be out at first (no double play) so they could hit another 3 run homer. After 2 run triple by Reyes he wisely struck out looking to get the game over more quickly. And none of that flashy fielding to take away from the offense. Don't start me on Ted K.
