| SAN JUAN DEL SUR, NICARAGUA - Last Saturday we recapped our trip through Guatemala and the Bay Islands of Roatan, Honduras in search of the farmer/pitcher that MLB scouts are allegedly drooling over - particularly those of the Mets and Yanks. We also decided that we could stop our search based on Mike Pelfrey´s performance and Pedro´s pending return. Well, after further Skype chit-chat, Matt y yo decided it was best por mi to stay on the trail of our unknown phenom and ensure his signing con Los Metropolitans. We are happy to report that we are oh-so-close to completing our mission (which ends Monday), yet can give no real details at this typing. So, how did we end up in Nicaragua´s surfer´s haven, you ask? Good question. After chasing a lead to the island paradise that is Roatan, we completed our Advanced SCUBA certifcation course, following up on iffy intel that painted our guy as a diver. When we surfaced, our Dive Master said something in broken English about Matthew McConaughey and surfing and baseball. We construed that as code for: "The man you seek is surfing in Matthew McConaughey´s favorite surf town, San Juan Del Sur, on the Pacific side of Central America." So, without missing a beat, we took two dicey twin-prop 14-seater planes from Roatan to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. There, we boarded a chicken bus to San Marcos de Colon, a border town of cabelleros on horse back and, coincidentally, the home base for the Central American MTM Fan Club. After an 8-minute cab ride to the border, we walked into Nicaragua, all the while showing a picture of McConaughey and an imagined/hypothesized sketch of our Fernando Valenzuela clone; Todos seemed be telling us to come here. We stopped in Granada first, however, and went to a game at a delapidated stadium with Dennis Martinez´s likeness painted on it´s interior walls. For 60 cordovas ($3) we sat directly behind home plate in - get this - orange and blue seats! In the 5th inning two of the light towers went dark. After a 45 minute delay in which a roly-poly maintenence guy climbed the tower while clutching a rusty screw-driver, the umpires called the game. Nobody seemed to care that the tower-climber was perilously (ck spelling) close to death. Further, it seems as though you can´t play night baseball in Granada without lights in right field. While at the game, though, we did have an older gent nod and point when we showed him Matt McConaughey´s pearly whites, justifying our trip here. We´ll leave you with that - surf´s up - and hopefully we´ll get our guy in a¨Full Ed Nelson by sundown Domingo. In the meantime, chime in below and ready for Rex O´Rourke manana. Besos, Mateo y Mateo |

| delgado struck out with bases loaded. An they had those bases loaded with no one out. Look at that for why the mets lost. |
