| I smell a Matt. By the way, why aren't the post numbers changing? B. Cox had his 52nd post on Wednesday and today's still reads 52. Others have not moved either. How else are we to know how much of our lives we're wasting away here. |

| Personally, my epiphany came in the 1978 World Series when #9 went fully extended, entire body parallel to the ground, to snare a shot (off Steve Garvey's bat?) that I heard more than saw. I never saw Brooks Robinson, Nettles was always--and still is--the Man to me. |

This is a truly amazing post, for all the reasons mentioned. Let's face it, up to now, B. Cox has shown all the depth of a baby pool. To suddenly wax poetic about his youth, the world, even quote Shakespeare? I'm impressed, and yet skeptical.
David makes an interesting point - how does a person who keeps old "Whites Only" signs in his attic for souvenirs suddenly cite Henry Aaron as his hero?
I’m shocked and confused. I had this same feeling when I saw the ending of "The Crying Game."

Craig, that's a good one. I'm a Schmidt guy, of course, but Nettles was fabulous, when it counted most. How does a guy that good win just two Gold Gloves? I'll save that rant - around Gold Gloves - for another day. I'll only say that I think Brooks won four of them after he retired.
B. Cox? Eloquent? I'm still in shock. |
