Still plenty of time to do a turnaround, its a long season. The Matts 1st show should be about picking the Mattette cheerleaders along with their outfits and colors. |

Cripes New Yorkers. Get a grip! Do I have to come to your website to give you a pep talk? I thought New Yorkers were as tough as they get but this constant whining about your mediocre team is getting unbearable!
The fact of the matter is baseball is full of mediocrity. Most teams when you look at their last 162 games are not that much above .500. Being just above .500 gets you into the playoffs.
The good news is that the DBacks come into town. They don't hit into too many double plays because they prefer the strikeout. They have gone 4-13 in the last couple of weeks or so and have only lost ground by 1 1/2 games over second place Dodgers.
May the mightiest mediocre team win! |

| I beg to differ on your fuzzy math there McCain. I don't think just-over-.500 will get you in the playoffs this year. I haven't given up on the Mets yet, despite their horrendous effort (if you can call it that) in San Diego. I think having Sam's-a-Fan back from his Euro excursion and the D-Bags limping into town may be just the tonic for the Metropolitans. That being said, I'll be in attendance tonight ready to unleash the full fury of AW on anyone not playing sound fundamental baseball. Will the Matts be at the game as well? We need ya! |

| I agree with the Matts about cutting Delgado and Castillo loose. Even if we bring up one of our minor leaugers, like Mike Carp, it can't be that much worse than the complete lack of production by those two. |

| I'm not ready to turn off the lights on this season yet either, although changes have to be made. As much as I love HoJo for old time's sake a team that consistently can not bring runners in from second has a problem. Bring Keith down from the broadcast booth and make them understand that should come to the dish with a plan every frigging at bat! I've never been a fan of faux guru Rick Petersens, but since it is really the offense that has been offensive I'll ignore him for now. I love Willie as a person and maybe firing him would be a disservice (I'm most afraid of the impact it would have on efforts to hire and maintain good minority managers and front office people), but that simply goes with the territory in that job. |
