Even with the wise signing of Joe Giradi, the Yankees are in a state of flux and while on the surface have nothing to do with the Mets, we see it as having everything to do with them. While it may be difficult to claim the team with the whopping payroll is rebuilding, they are rebuilding. Our Metties have made serious inroads for metropolitan domination over the past 3 years. Now is the off-season to insure that this trend continues and with some good (and yes expensive) moves, we’ll be Princes of the City once again. Yesterday, our friend Dude suggested a trade of Carlos Beltran to the Twins for Joe Mauer and Johan Santana. While this may be far fetched, it is the kind of open minded, bold thinking management should address. The Matts have played the “Untouchable in the Off Season” Game each year but at this junction it would not be outrageous for us to say that David Wright and Jose Reyes are really the only players who should never be traded. Let us recapture the hearts and minds of all New Yorkers. Open the mind. Open the wallet. And open your thoughts here on the blog!

| Why is Dude's proposition so outrageous? Throw in a Pelfrey and a Perez and the deal is good for both teams. The Twins are going to lose their centerfielder this year and Beltran would be as good an offensive offset to losing Mauer. Beltran needs to get out ofd the big market microscope. He can't deal. |

| We should be aggressive in pursuit of free agents. And it would be nice to get rid of Delgado and Wagner. I'm convinced they've had it. |
