EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Time has come to band together in an unprecedented show of support for New York Football Giant Plaxico Burress.
We can be the intervention tools that keep him in pro football and out of Season 15 of Celebrity Rehab teamed with Gary Busey and Jeff Conway (yes they’ll never get off that show). Here’s what we do. Open a get well soon website where fans can send all of their upbeat messages to the troubled receiver. Flood the Giants PR phone lines, email and standard mail addresses with pleas to get more involved with the guy. Have a quasi guidance counselor with him 24/7. Make him wear an ankle bracelet. Let no option be tossed aside. We’ll personally oversee the donation phone lines as well.
Plax is on the slippery slope that has dragged many fine athletes (particularly fine New York athletes) down. The Mets own Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry were on the fast track to the Hall of Fame in the mid 1980’s until drinking, drugs and insanity sidestepped them. Their laundry list of offenses would make hardened criminals blush. Look at what the major sports have produced and you’ll see a list of bad boy behavior that is endless and reads like a rap sheet from Central Booking. All of them did time and the range of crimes reads from misguided misdemeanors to murderer.

So we will open the Plaxithon phone lines soon and be collecting contributions (sorry – not tax deductible) on his behalf. The Matts will then us that money to figure something out. We’re not sure what that something is but perhaps we’ll invest it in the housing, oil and auto markets. We expect a windfall profit that will become Plaxico’s nest egg should all other efforts fail. Or maybe we’ll join the list above as well set sail for the South Pacific will everyone’s money. “Some enchanted evening.”

Sure, of the $35 Million, Plaxi-There-Go-My-Gun has a lot to lose, but he's already got $3.25 Million of that contract in the bank (or already spent making an MTV Cribs worthy home in NJ).
Besides, his lawyer was also the lawyer for Sean 'Diddy'-- (or is that P. Diddy.. or was that Puff Daddy) and he got off. I am sure a little gun possession charge is nothing and I am sure in due time, the Giants will make some statement that tempers the charge and will retain him on non-injury reserve for the rest of the season... saving themselves some cash.
The best in this whole thing so far is a squeaky clean Tiki Barber doing interviews with the Giants for this and then providing his own commentary. He said that a lot of 'these guys grew up in areas where there were gangs and drugs and they had to protect themselves.' And quantified it saying that it 'doesn't excuse it.' No.. of course not.
Gotta run... I need to check with my brother (NYPD) to see just how hard it is to discharge a Glock while fumbling with it in your pocket. |

| At least Plaxico didn't hide the trunk of a car like baby momma killer Rae Carruth. And what is with the Redskins putting up Sean Taylor in their ring of honor. It was a sad case and he was an ok player but the ring of honor? He might not have met such a tragic end if he hadn't spent the first 24 years of his life associating with the type of low lifes that murdered him. Plaxico will end up a Redskin, Cowboy or Raider if the Giants send him packing. |
