| Paul Newman's passing is sadder than anything happening at Shea. So many great performances and only one Oscar (and that for "The Color of Money?"). What a class act. Cookie, along with "Cool Hand Luke," I would also suggest folks rent out "The Verdict" and "Nobody's Fool." There are so many more (Butch Cassidy, Hud, The Sting, Slap Shot etc.) but those two later roles are worth catching if you haven't yet. As for Mets good vibes, hmm, I was out there last night screaming my head off. It's up to the team. Drive in some friggin' runs already. |

AW---glossing over "The Hustler" and giving the nod to the "Color of Money"?---no dice. I mean Newman, Gleason, Scott and Piper Laurie with cameo's by LaMotta, Masconi and Fats himself. Alas, their was stiff Oscar competition in 1961.This movie was so much better and not just because Tom Cruise is a mediocre actor. Go Mets!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Clancy, rest assured I was not forgetting "The Hustler" and by no means a fan of "The Color of Money (please see multiple question marks after that title in my post). It was a crime that the Academy recognized him for that performance. Sort of like Scorcese winning his only Oscar for "The Departed" and not "Raging Bull," "Goodfellas," or many other superior efforts. Speaking of superior efforts: Johan Santana. Wow! Great stuff. |

| Ah, the overflowing urinals, the bad sight lines, the planes, the losing. How I'll miss Shea. |
