SAF: Excellent work after phlouting with a Cookie phlogging! We do appreciate your well wishes for MTM on SNY but we're homers and say there's good stuff on there and that there is plenty of room for all! Yeah!!! Dude: You should have been in our Super Tuesday segment - you know both sides of aisle; football and politics. Philview: Where have you been!?! We need your brilliance for the likes of Clancy, Cookie and Agorn! If only Yankees Suck would return with cnc63, the Phanatic and the Boston Bopper. We will be at Shea tonight and Sunday as the Mets prove last September was a phluke! |

Phillview-What gives? Yesterday, it's you picking the Mets. And now you front running Phillies Phan are making such blasphemous comments about the MVP. Jimmy Rollins put a target on his back last season and then delivered on his guarantee like no player in the history of sports. It was a 162 game guarantee not a cheap 60 minute version. Don’t give up on the Phitins just yet. Hope is just 10 days away when Billy Wagner returns from the DL
If the rain stays away In one more day I'll see you at Shea

Well, well, if it isn't the Phanatic.
Let me answer your implications in order -
"Front runner," as defined, is the type of sports fan, aka moron, who only likes the team when it is winning. Jimmy Rollins - you remember him, the guy who should have finished SECOND in last year's MVP voting - recently stated that the entire city of Philadelphia was comprised of these individuals. He's not far off. Personally, I don't consider myself one. I sat in the stands in 2000 when they huffed and puffed to 65 wins, and I'll continue to root for them. Therein lies the difference. Just because I speak my mind, don't brush my teeth with Ryan Howard toothpaste, and wear a Chase Utley jersey to bed, doesn't make me any less of a fan, as you seem to think.
On Rollins and the MVP, I am not holding his comments against him. When the results came out a year ago, I was happy, but surprised, - I simply felt that Holliday, while as boring as drying paint, had the better year. Congratulations Met fans, this year's MVP, by your accounting, is Carlos Beltran.
On the next three weeks, I will not cease rooting for the Phillies to beat the hell out of the Mets, and will not abandon them if they fail. But the fact remains that this year's version has a virtual artery leaking in the heart, and will simply not be able to mount the charge that made last year's victory so amazing.
On that victory, as our rivals on this site will attest, if the Mets played just .400 ball the last two weeks, the race was over. |
