| HOUSTON, TX - We have a problem and owe you all an apology as a result. We were under the impression that today's column would have been posted by the Phanatic, B. Cox or some new variation of either. Instead, we are simultaneously concerned, miffed, sad and disappointed to find no such posting. Could it be that the Phanatic Cox has really left us?! Could it be that his cliff-hanger was really a shove of us all off the cliff?! Or is it simply that neither of these/this enigmatic philosopher(s) has anything to say that could compete with the coolest event in all of sports - The Subway Series. In but a few short hours the Bronx Bombers and Amazin' Metropolitans will face off at Yankee Stadium for today's makeup matinee before hopping on the Grand Central or subway to get to tonight's Shea night-capper. Let's be honest, all of baseball has its collective eye on this series. Both teams need to make a statement, if not for their competition then certainly for themselves. After all, Philly v Texas just doesn't matter. Nor does Atlanta v Toronto. The Chicago series is intriguing but they don't call that town the 2nd City for nuthin... So, we're sorry for the lack of a proper piece today and apologize to all of you - but there is PLENTY to talk about - despite Phanatic Cox's attempt to undermine NYC sports! GO METS!!! |

| The PH' n Phanatic can kiss my coulie. The Mets will make or break their season here. The pitching matchups favor us and the Yanks are as banged up as we are. Must take 3of 4 and continue winning. |

Let me get this straight - "Let's be honest, all of baseball has its collective eye on this series." Please. Yes, ESPN and Yahoo certainly do, because they drink the same Kool-Aid you guys do. Now, if they could only get the Red Sox into the mix, it would be the usual, wouldn't it?
Currently, this is a series between two third place teams - a status that is not likely to change anytime soon, much to my own pain on the Mets side. But if I may say so, and paraphrase B. Cox (yes, I saw that one), it has always puzzled me that despite trillions and trillions of galaxies, and millions of scientific facts to the contrary, New Yorkers believe they are the center of the universe. |
