YS - The Polo Grounds as the Florence of MLB?!? I love it! Could Horace Stoneham be baseball's Lorenzo Medici? More likely it was William Shea. I understand that there is some evidence that the great temple that once existed in upper Manhattan may indeed have been designed Fillipo Brunelleschi. But there is one thing for sure, Willie Mays was baseball's Michelangelo!

Phillview - You stole my thunder (and I tip my hat to you). I was going to say that the award for all-time baseball cradle goes to Hoboken and would back it up with one word. Sinatra! As any fan of "Cheers" knows Frank Sinatra was the biggest big wig of them all.

On a completely different subject I have an epiphany to report, one about which I am very happy. I have discovered that with tonight's NBA draft looming, the Knicks have lost the power to disappoint me! It is quite liberating.

If the Baseball Hall of Fame were in Hoboken... it'd be a lot easier to get to. I have a very sad story about my trip to Cooperstown's nearby metropolis Spencer-- and an ill fated drive by of the Hall of Fame. It's just too sad to go into.... so the Matts should hold a contest and have the prize be a trip up there.

Sam... Being a born and bred New Yorker... history tells me (and I am quite certain) that just when you thought the Knicks can't disappoint you anymore... they will. Trust me.... I'm a doctor.

I fully expected numb nutz like Yankee Joe, Rex O'Rourke, Cookie and Mrs. Matt (did I miss any Yankee fans on this blog?) to get bombastic about the Bronx being the Mecca of Baseball. I suppose a thanks for the restraint is in order.
