New York, N.Y. – This one’s for you Pop. You were never too tired to have a catch even when your arm hurt. I suspect you had a bad rotator cuff long before it was fashionable. You always tried to throw the ball up against the Kissling’s fence so I could jump and “steal” the home run. You were the only Frisbee playing Republican in the 1960’s. You caddied for Babe Ruth. You’re currently shooting your age or even under your age at 82 years old! You’ve been married almost 60 years to the prettiest gal from Bellerose, Queens and make it look easy. You fed, clothed, educated, and kept four kids from harm. You taught us right from wrong, and gave us freedom, but never let us lose sight of who was in charge… Mom! You came to what seemed like every single Baseball, Basketball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Field Hockey, Softball, and Volleyball game. You served in the Marines from 1943-1946, fighting in places like Okinawa, and came out of it without a scratch. You are annoyingly good at Horseshoes, Table Tennis (I know you hate when people call it Ping-Pong) Jarts, Bridge, Poker, Billiards, and just about anything that requires hand-eye coordination. When you played paintball, running through the woods in 90 degree heat at 77 years of age, it was an all-time classic. If we polled every person that has ever crossed paths with you I doubt one would have a bad thing to say about you. You’ve been a father, mentor, buddy, and friend. You and Mom have a lot to be proud of and I suspect Tom Brokaw was right; you and your piers are truly the greatest generation. Happy Father’s Day, Rex |

Nice job Rex. Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there. And, Happy Father's Day to my mom.
I'd also like to say a big 'Happy Father's Day' to my husband. He's truly gone beyond what I could ever imagine a great father could and should be. It's the most gratifying and heartwarming thing. I can't wait for our son to have all the words to express it to you. |

| A Happy F-Day to all of you out there, especially Cookie's mom! We do agree with Vincent, though, as per the mushiness of the weekend. We need the a good collective kick in the keester and a twin-bill sweep by the Mets will get us going. Meantime, anybody paying attention to Shockey and Burress in Giant Land? Father Mara is not happily looking down upon those two from above. |
