TAMPA, FL – It is the time of the season to preview baseball’s likely World Series match-up. In October, after the arduous 6 months and some hard fought playoff series, the Florida Marlins and the Tampa Bay Rays will emerge to face each other in the All-Florida Series. Tampa Bay, by virtue of another NL collapse in the All-Star Game will have home field advantage. Looks look at the tale of the tape: TAMPA BAY RAYS OF Carl Crawford OF B.J. Upton OF Eric Hinske 3B Evan Longoria SS Jason Barlett 2B Akinori Iwamura 1B Carlos Pena C Dioner Navarro DH Johnny Gomes SP James Shields SP Scott Kazmir SP Andy Sonnanstine SP Matt Garza CL Troy Percival FLORIDA MARLINS OF Alfredo Amezaga OF Josh Willingham OF Jeremy Hermida 3B Jorge Cantu SS Hanley Ramirez 2B Dan Uggla 1B Mike Jacobs C Mike Rabelo DH Luis Gonzalez SP Mark Hendrickson SP Andrew Miller SP Scott Olson SP Ricky Nolasco CL Kevin Gregg It will be a tight series where the young pitching of the Rays: Kazmir, Shields, Garza and Sonnanstine take on the young bats of the Marlins: Ramirez, Uggla, Willingham, Jacobs and Hermida. If the games are tight, a nod will have to go to the Rays with the experienced warrior Troy Percival in the closer role. We feel, however, that the Marlins will ultimately prevail for a few reasons. First, those young bats just listed will be too hard to keep at bay. Second, the Marlins win the World Series with odd frequency and they are probably due again. Third and finally, no team from the Land of Steinbrenner is allowed to win the World Series. Matt: Matt, I had the craziest dream last night. Matt: Me too, like Armageddon. Matt: The Rays were in the World Series. Matt: No way, in mine the Marlins were in the Series. Matt: It was so real though. Matt: I know, I know. Matt: Dunkin Donuts coffee? Matt: You bet. |

| you're damn right that is a nightmare. not as big a nightmare as aaron heilman however. good steps earlier in the week omar, now let's do due diligence and lose the hack. time is expired and we should have gone 5-2 minimum on this homestand, instead we go into a day game with a chance of losing 3 of 4 to the nats. i'm with dude yesterday too, santana should be pitching today and staying in rotation. we want this guy to have the maximum number of starts. |

Didn't Longoria change his last name to Longoria-Parker?
Lenny- there are teams out there doing it the right way. Look at last years playoff finalists: DBacks, Rox and the Tribe. The payroll combined didn't equal that of the BoSox.
Matts: I notice you left off the names of the managers for those squads. Those managers could be in witness protection for all we know. Talk about anonymous. |
